I was nine years old when I got my first motorbike.
A little yellow scrambler with no speedometer, no rules, and definitely no helmet.

My nephew was two.
I’d sit him up front—small hands gripping the bars like he belonged there.
His sister, six years old, would climb on the back, arms wrapped tight around my waist.
And off we’d go—three kids with no supervision, no fear, and no idea how insane it probably looked from the outside.

We rode everywhere.
Across dirt tracks and bush trails, through the tall grass and open fields of a game farm full of wild animals.
Kudu, warthog, giraffe. We learned to live around them. Respect them. Sometimes race them.

There were no helmets. No GPS.
Only instinct, dust, and the throttle.
We didn’t know the word “risk.” We just knew freedom.

And we never had a problem.
Not once.

It’s wild to think how different that world was from the one kids grow up in now.
A world wrapped in caution tape and cotton wool, where everything is padded and scheduled and approved.

But that farm raised something different in me.
It taught me to trust myself.
To lead, even when I didn’t know the way.
To carry others.
To move forward with presence, not permission.

It wasn’t safe.
But it was real.
And real is what built me.

Some of you will remember when I first started building the RAW Movement years ago.
It wasn’t a fad. It wasn’t a “new year, new me” gimmick. It was a statement — a way of living.
And truthfully? It worked. I became dangerous, capable, and primal again.

But here’s the honest bit...
Like I’ve done before, I slipped.
I got fat.
I got soft.
I got comfortable.

This isn’t the first time either — I’m no stranger to this cycle. I push hard, get in shape, dominate life, then let complacency creep back in and undo the work.
But the difference now?
I’m not accepting it this time.
Relaxation time is officially f*cking over.

What is RAW?

RAW stands for:
Rock — Strength, Grit, Foundation
Air — Endurance, Capacity, Breath
Water — Flow, Skill, Adaptability

It’s how men trained before gyms became selfie booths.
It’s about:

Real strength, not just muscles

Endurance, so you don’t gas out chasing your kids

Flow, so you move like a man, not a stiff statue

Masculinity, unapologetic and primal

Becoming dangerous again — for all the right reasons

It was raining hard that night.

There was a time I thought strength meant building walls.

If I could just fortify myself, protect what I had, and keep the world at a distance, I’d be safe. Untouchable. Secure.

But the thing about fortresses?
They don’t move.
They don’t grow.
They don’t live.

A rider is different.
A rider embraces the wind, the unknown, the ever-changing road beneath them.
A rider understands that true strength isn’t about staying put—it’s about moving forward despite uncertainty.

I’m not saying one is better than the other.
There are times we all need walls—to heal, to rebuild, to rest.
But there comes a moment when we have to decide:

👉 Or will I trust myself enough to take the ride?

The Chronicles Of Suntwe - Chapter Four: Descent into the Devil’s Cataract

We descended into the Crack. Into the mist, the chaos, the roar of Devil’s Cataract. With my father’s ashes in my pack and 110 metres of rope beneath me, I dropped into the gorge — not for adrenaline, but for honour. And when the rope frayed, the radios failed, and the climb back turned savage, I learned what resilience really is. Not control. Not certainty. Just presence. Grit. And will. I buried part of my father down there. And I left part of myself too.

We didn’t descend that day. We prepared. Hauled a generator across crocodile water, bolted anchors into volcanic stone, and stood at the edge of something ancient. This wasn’t a stunt. It was the start of a sacred mission — to honour my father at the base of Devil’s Cataract. The real descent would come later. But even in that moment of pause, the island gave us something most men never touch — the feeling of being exactly where you’re meant to be.

Before she was tamed, we knew her when she roared. Cataract Island — wedged between the Devil’s Cataract and the fury of the Main Falls — was never meant to be visited. You survived her. You earned her. And if you were lucky, she let you leave. This is the story of how we crossed through hippos, crocs, and chaos to stand on sacred stone... and how that island rewired my soul forever.
